I don’t think I can remember a time where I wasn’t trying to save my money for something, so I think it’s fair to say I have a few tips on how to save efficiently.
One of the best ways I save money is by having a jar or box where I can throw my coppers and coins into. This sounds like such an obvious tip buttttttttt I never realise just how much money is left in the jars or boxes that I have by the time I empty them. The only bad thing about doing this is that you have to pay to exchange the money back to notes.
Another thing I do is save a small bit of money each week into my savings account. I have had a savings account since I was a child but I never put money in it myself until recently. So now every Friday I go and save the left over money after paying my loan, or any pocket change I have with me into my savings account. I have no set amount to save so anything I put into it is a bonus.
I also try track where my money goes (which never really seems to work for me, but it’s a nice idea)
Something I do often is look for student deals or midweek deals. These are often found at cinemas, or on restaurant lunch menus. And they do save you a good bit of money. If I wanted to go to the cinema I would try go on a day the student deal is on, or I would use up my monthly cinema pass with my phone company.
I also make use of my student card, or whoever is with me, even though it only saves a tiny bit of money. I also signed up with UNiDAYS with my student card. UNiDAYS is a website for student that promotes great deals with big brands. Anyone with a student card can join and you can make a bit of money by sending your link to your friends.
Something I have recently started doing when I see something I want is leaving it for a few days. If it’s something I really want I will go back and buy it a few days after. This helps me save a ton because most of the time I couldn’t be bothered to go back and get whatever it was I “so badly needed”.
I think I deserve the award for person who owns the most company club cards ever. I literally have a club card/points card for everything possible, and although it takes a while to build up enough points to buy things with eventually you’ll be able to buy something with just points so that’s pretty good and sort of saving money, right?
